The Bee-hive

The Bee-hive is a musical farce by John Gideon Millingen (1782–1862)[1], with music composed Charles E. Horn (1786–1849)[2].

The original text

It was first performed by the Drury Lane Company at the Theatre Royal, Lyceum on Saturday, January 19th, 1811 and published 1818.

Performances in South Africa

1823: While no specific performance is mentioned, Bosman (1928: p. 184) does record a call for the music of The Bee-hive by the Amateur Company of officers in Cape Town in this year.
