Tankiso Mamabolo is a South African singer, songwriter, actor and playwright.


Biography

Born in Matatiele and raised in Mthatha, she studied at the University of Cape Town drama department, and after completing her course in 2015, she began a successful career in music and musical theatre.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As a performer she has appeared in various musical theatre productions, including Aunty Merle The Musical by Marc Lottering which gained her Naledi and Fleur du Cap theatre award nominations for best supporting actress in a musical.

As a playwright she co-created and performed in The Fall in 2016, a piece which went on to win the Encore Award at that year's Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards, then went on to tour internationally, receiving awards at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival as well as being put on the New York Times critics choice list.
