St John Knight (fl. late 1870s) was an actor-manager and playwright active in Cape Town.

Biography

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He wrote a sketch called The Ministry in a Fix, which included impersonations of the then Governor of the Cape and John X. Merriman. It was performed in the Good Hope Gardens as part of a "Gala Night" on 9 February, 1878. He was also partly responsible for the libretto of the Baby Benson Pantomime Beauty and the Beast, performed in the Athenaeum Theatre under the direction of Signor Firgerio from 22 April to 4 May, 1878.

On 18 October 1878 he presented performances of Delicate Ground (Dance) and Milky White (Craven) in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town.
