St Aloysius Hall
The St Aloysius Hall (or Aloysius Hall) was a Catholic church hall in St John Street, Cape Town.
One of a number of public and church halls used for concerts, bazaars and entertainments.
In 1868 it was used by the Phoenix Club for their Christy's-style entertainments under the name St Aloysius Hall and during October of 1869 the pupils of the St Joseph's Academy put on an "entertainment" in what is referred to as the Catholic Hall, Cape Town, that included performances of Cherry Bounce (Raymond) and The Nervous Man and the Man of Nerve (Bernard). Presumably this was also the St Aloysius Hall, for by the 1870s it was increasingly being referred to simply as the Catholic Hall.
