South African Music Education Trust
The South African Music Education Trust (SAMET) was formed in 1994 by a group of Trustees representing diverse sectors of the musical world, in conjunction with commerce and education.
SAMET is a facilitating body, intent on bringing musical education and opportunity to the broader community. In most instances these communities have never been exposed to any form of music education.
The Trust’s main objective is the training and development of musicians through music literacy programmes which leads to the performance of indigenous, jazz, orchestral and popular music on a variety of instruments. This type of tuition is aimed at benefiting the whole child, developing their co-ordination and communication skills and providing them with the necessary foundation to succeed in anything they want to do.
