Sandile Mdlongwa is a playwright, playwright and political writer and researcher.

Biography

He has a BA in Politics and a BA Honours in Politics and International Relations, both from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), and has done online courses in public speaking and writing with Harvard University.

In 2024 he was appointed a Research Associate in the Faculty of Humanities, University of Johannesburg.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Since 2017 Mdlongwa has been the CEO of Festilente, described as a Creative Arts Production Company based in Krugersdorp, that produces plays and channels them to mainstream theatre. Part of his responsibilities are to act as a production manager and a director for the plays for the company.

Among the plays he has written and directed are Poison, a one-act political play about the problems that underlie social constructs such as gender roles, masculinity and femininity. (Performed in 2022 and published by the UJ Press at the University of Johannesburg, 2023).
