Translated from the French into Afrikaans as Romeo en Jeanette by Peter Blum.

Performance history in South Africa

1960: Produced by the National Theatre Organisation in Afrikaans as Romeo en Jeanette, performed by NTO Kamertoneel in the Bellville Civic Theatre from 10 to 17 February. Directed by Suzanne van Wyk, with Joey de Koker, Babs Laker, Ria Olivier, Laurie van der Merwe and Robert Mohr. Decor by Frank Graves, costumes by Doreen Graves.

1963: Produced in English, as Romeo and Jeanette, by PACT, July-August. Directed by Richard Daneel starring Fiona Fraser, Bess Finney, Ronald Wallace, Arthur Hall, Siegfried Mynhardt, Reinet Maasdorp and Taffy Griffith. Settings by Giuseppe Cattaneo, costumes by Joubero Malherbe. The play was presented at the Civic Theatre, Johannesburg and taken on tour.
