The original text

The subtitle of this play reads in search of the soul of Eugene Marais - a story of survival, drugs, sex and politics, and it is yet another dramatised version of moments in the tragic life of the enigmatic and pioneering Afrikaans author, poet and scientist Eugene N. Marais (1871-1936). (For a list of the works devoted to his story, see the entry on Eugene N. Marais)
