Phèdre is a French play by Jean-Baptiste Racine (1639 – 1699)[1]
Known as Phaedra in English.

The original text
A dramatic tragedy in five acts written in alexandrine verse, it was first performed in 1677 at the theatre of the Hôtel de Bourgogne in Paris.
