Palang van Dwaal ("Palang from Dwaal") is a 1998 Afrikaans musical play by Ian Roberts.

Subject

The ongoing conflict between the vigilante group People Against Gangsterism And Drugs (PAGAD) [1], the drug lords and the police. Set in a scrapyard on the Cape Flats, the play tells the story of a community of outcasts caught in the crossfire. The dialogue is in Afrikaans, English, Xhosa and Zulu.

1998: Staged at the KKNK and later in the Tesson Theatre at the Johannesburg Civic, directed by Lynne Maree, with Ian Roberts (Palang), Michelle Botes (Mêry), Frantz Dobrowsky (Kouvoet), David S. Lee (Polisieman), Zane Meas (Djonni Buttons), Joanne Kollinz (Miss Lilly), Susan Rossouw (Silenie), Philip Notununu (Popeye) and others. Musical score by Roberts, musical direction by Angerie van Wyk, choreography by Luana Nasser.
