Ondine is a play by French dramatist Jean Giraudoux.

Original text

Written in 1938, based on the 1811 novella Undine by the German Romantic Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué that tells the story of Hans and Ondine.

Translations and adaptations

Adapted by Maurice Valency with music by Virgil Thomson.

Performance history in South Africa

1963: English version presented by the Dramatic Society of East London, directed by Lynette Alexander.
