Biography

Odwa Shweni was born in Queenstown, Eastern Cape and studied at the University of the Western Cape, becoming an IT specialist, who had and later lived and worked in Centurion as an independent IT consultant. He married to Tebogo in 2016 and the couple have two children.

Contribuition to South African theatre, film, media and performance

A part time actor, he died on 12 April, 2018 while rehearsing for the action film Outside, on location in the Drakensberg. He fell 40m off a cliff on Thursday while shooting a fight scene at the Sterkspruit Waterfall near Monks Cowl.

His death has given rise to a flood of questions about safety procedures in South African film-making.
