W.G. Browne (fl. 1860s) was a composer and possibly a performer.

Biography
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
A Mr Browne is named one of performers in the Le Roy and Duret company on their visit to Port Elizabeth round about November of 1865. Then a W.G. Browne is specifically mentioned as the composer of a "new Overture and Music" for Ray and Cooper's production of Little Jack Horner, or Harlequin A.B.C. on December, 1865. Given the dates and the relatively singular spelling of the name, there is a possibility that the references are to the same person, as F.C.L. Bosman (1980, p.490) also seems to suggest in his Index.
