Mossel Bay Carnival

Mossel Bay Carnival is an annual event that takes place during September at the Mossel Bay Correctional Youth Centre premises.

Also known as the Elite Crew Carnival Show, the Youth Carnival @ Correctional Services and the Mossel Bay Correctional Carnival.

The event

The Mossel Bay Carnival was begun in 2001 and the purpose is to build social partnerships with all public servants, NGOs and the community at large. The objective is to give all talented and upcoming artists in and around mossel bay free exposure. All artists are invited to contact the organizers if they wish to perform.

The carnival starts with a gospel evening and other entertainment, including a soccer tournament, lawn balls competition, show and shine, angling competition, steak evening, merry go round, a beer garden and food and handicraft stalls, as well as quad bike rides and motorsport spinning. The entertainment continues with a family evening braai around the camp fire. The different government departments will exhibit their services (e.g. sskydiving and demonstrations by fire and rescue services), while various competitions include korfball ("soft ball"), potjiekos, modelling, tug of war, and so on are on offer. Amiong different government departments will also exhibit their services and clothes and food stalls rounds of the entertainment at the festival.
