Mock Trails. ("Skynhofsittings" in Afrikaans) were a popular form of entertainment in the late 19th century Cape, and these also influenced the form of many plays and farces written at the time. (Vide J.H.H. de Waal's Jacob Riem en Di Varki for an example of how they were done.)
