Kannemeyer's Concert Hall
Kannemeyer's Concert Hall was a venue in Cape Town in the 1860s.
Constructed by a Mr Kannemeyer on his property Longmarket Street in 1864, it was intended for use for social gatherings or club meetings. It was presumably also used for various kinds of musical performances as well.
For example, shortly after its construction, the Juvenile Christys, a company of young blackface performers, led by a Miss Kannemeyer (probably the venue-owner's daughter), which had first appeared in 1863, made an appearance in a private performance there in 1864, before they went on to a public appearance in the Beurssaal.
