Mime is a performance art using only body movements, gestures, and facial expressions to tell a story or convey emotions without speech, relying on physical theater techniques like creating illusions (e.g., invisible walls, ropes) for the audience to imagine.

A mime artist (also simply called a mime or a pantomime artist) is the performer, and it's a foundational skill in physical theater, requiring control, precision, and spatial awareness. The term also refers to the act of imitating something without words (e.g., "to mime an action").
