Mercury Players

The Mercury Players was a dramatic society founded in Johannesburg in 1949.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Their first public appearance was at the Johannesburg Municipal Library on 29 November 1949 for the reading of two one-act plays. They presented Desire under the Elms (their first full-length production, 1951), Detective Story (1952), Journey's End (1954), Under the Sycamore Tree (1955) and a number of play-readings.
