Marth Munro (19*-). Academic, voice specialist and producer.

Biography

Born Martha Maria Susanna **,

She married Allan Munro and since then published under her married named as Marth Munro

The title of her Masters thesis is 'n Inleiding tot stemproduksie in die teater: die wetenskap van projeksie (University of Potchefstroom, 1993) and her doctorate was called Lessac's tonal action in women's voices and the "actor's formant": a comparative study (University of Potchefstroom, 2002).

Career

She was on the staff of University of Pretoria, Department of Drama. In 2004 she was a voice and movement teacher at the drama department of the Pretoria Technikon and in 2009 at the Tshwane University of Technology's (Tut) Department of Drama. Later made Professor Extraordinaire in the Drama Department, University of Pretoria

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Besides her role in national and international academic bodies, notably as Director of Research at the internationally renowned Lessac Training and Research Institute, and numerous academic articles on aspects of voice and body, she has also been a lecturer, actress, playwright, director.

She had a role in O, Kondoom, daar's 'n Kat in my Boom produced by Noordwes produksies at the ATKV Toneelfees in 1995.

She was the voice coach on the 2020 film Vergeet my nie.

Munro produced the first isiXhosa opera, Temba and Seliba (1996).
