Lucky Dube

Lucky Philip Dube (1964–2007) [1] was a South African reggae musician and Rastafarian.

Hugely popular reggae singer and film star, at one time the most popular recording star in the country. He started with Zulu/mbaqanga music, and moved into reggae, producing his first album Rastas Never Die in 1985. Starred as an aspirant reggae star in two low budget movies, Getting Lucky and Lucky Strikes Back, which set off his reggae career. (See: Toffoli & Silber, 1989)

Lucky was born on 3rd August,1964, in Ermelo, Eastern Transvaal, South Africa. In 2007 Lucky Dube was killed in the Johannesburg suburb of Rosettenville shortly after dropping two of his seven children off at their uncle's house
