Leonhard Praeg (19*-) is a philosopher, academic, writer and musician.

His name sometimes found as Leonard Praeg.

Prior to his appointment as head of the department of philosophy at the University of Pretoria, Professor Leonhard Praeg (M.Ed Rhodes, Ph.D US) taught in the department of Philosophy of Education at UWC (1993), the Philosophy Department of the University of Fort Hare (1996-1998) and the Department of Political and International Studies at Rhodes University (2003-2014). He is the author of numerous articles, book chapters, anthologies and monographs in the domain of African philosophy and is series editor of the Thinking Africa book series published in association with UKZN Press.

He is married to dancer, choreographer and academic Juanita Finestone-Praeg.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Contributed ideas, music and performances to a number of theatrical works while at Rhodes University, including The Unspeakable Story (FPTC, 1996), Dead: A Slight History of One Called Ivan (1996), 16 Kinds of Emptiness (NAF, 2006), Bessie's Head (Baxter Theatre and NAF, 2000), Drifting (Rhodes University, 2013).
