J.J. Labuschagne
J.J. Labuschagne (1935-2014) was a well known journalist, book compiler and publisher.
Fondly referred to by most people as Lappies Labuschagne, also referred to as Jean Labuschagne.
The nickname "Lappies" is common for people with the surname "Labuschagne" in South Africa, and notably so among public figures, such as rugby players and coaches.

Biography
Born Jean J. Labuschagne in Lichtenburg in 1935,
He studied at the University of Stellenbosch, inter alia serving a term as editor of Die Matie, the student newspaper. In 1959 he joined Die Burger as a journalist and in 1960 moved to Johannesburg to take up a position with Tafelberg Publishers, where he would work in various capacities till his retirement, returning to the Cape in 1970 and becoming head publisher at Tafelberg Publishers in 1992. He retired in 1998.
Numerous famous authors considered him their publisher, including the playwrights P.G. du Plessis, Chris Barnard, Ampie van Straaten, Dolf van Niekerk and Hennie Aucamp.
Married to Maddie Labuschagne, he passed away after a long illness in 2014.
