Herbert Greville

Herbert Greville (fl. late 1800s-early 1900s) was a British comic actor.

Biography

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He visited South Africa in 1906 as a member of a comedy company performing in the Opera House, Cape Town under the auspices of the Wheeler Theatre Company from 27 August onwards. He made a particular impression as "Captain James Barley" in Beauty and the Barge (Jacobs and Parker). The company also included such fine performers as Marie Housley, Wilfred E. Payne and the six year old Sylvia Edney and the repertoire of the company featured plays such as
