In 1930, after the marriage of two performers (Wena Naude and Willem van Zyl), the Hanekom Geselskap (the "Hanekom Company"), became known as the Hanekom-Van Zyl Geselskap (“The Hanekom-Van Zyl Company”) and toured with two shows (Wie is wie?, an Afrikaans translation of Tons of Money by Will Evans and H.A. Jones’s The Silver King, translated into in Afrikaans as Die Silwer Koning). Parts of the latter tour took place under the auspices of African Theatres. The company ceased to exist after the tour, when the Hanekoms formed their Hanekom Toneelskool (Drama School) in Bloemfontein.
