George Leddra
George Leddra (b. Canada, **/**/1886 - d. Durban, 18/01/1923) was an actor.
Biography
George Arthur Leddra acted in at least two films for African Film Productions. In 1917 he had an unidentified role (credited as Geo. Ledra) in And Then ---, directed by Dick Cruikshanks and Joseph Albrecht, and the following year he played Private Tommy Atkins, one of the Prince Imperial's bodyguards in The Symbol of Sacrifice, also directed by Cruikshanks. On 10 January 1923 he was employed as an outside manager by AFP during the filming of The Reef of Stars at Amanzimtoti when a flare he was holding exploded. He was rushed to Addington Hospital in Durban where he died a few days later. He was buried in the Stellawood Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Kathleen Isabel O'Reilly. He may previously have served in the South African Constabulary and was discharged in 1906 "due to reduction of establishment". (FO)
