He started his career as a singer for a Spanish Company.

Ferdie performed in Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, The Minstrel Scandals and Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (1972).

He starred in Taubie Kushlick’s production of Jacques Brel in November 1979 at the Chelsea Theatre and in her production of A Tribute to the Words and Music of Brel at Kushlicks Theatre Restaurant in September 1989.

He was a soloist in the All-New, Non-Stop Minstrel Scandals and played in Lock Up Your Daughters. He has done recording and radio transcription work.

He won the Players Club Award for Best Supporting SA Artist in 1972.
