Everything in the Garden is a play by Anglo-Irish playwright Giles Cooper [1] (1918-1966).

First produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company on 13 March 1962 at the Arts Theatre, London.

Translations and adaptations

An American adaptation by Edward Albee, dedicated to the memory of Giles Cooper, was first performed in 1967 at the Plymouth Theatre, New York. The Albee version changes several aspects of the plot, including the names of some characters

196*: Colin Fish Productions presented the play at the Playhouse in Johannesburg in 19**. Directed by William Trollip and Colin Fish. Produced by Colin Fish and Joe Stewardson. Cast - Bernard Acton: Colin Fish. Jenny: Elizabeth Meyer. Roger: Hugh Davis. Leonie Pimosz: Sadie Festenstein. Jack: John Hayter. Bill: Joe Stewardson. Beryl: Fiona Fraser. Stephen: Ronald Wallace. Laura: Shirley Firth. Tom: Arthur Hall. Louise: Tessa Laubscher.

1988: Albee's version was presented by CAPAB Drama under the direction of Francois Swart. The first performance was at the Rhodes Theatre during the National Arts Festival on 4 July 1988. It opened st the Nico Malan Theatre on 15 July 1988. Design by Michael Mitchell, lighting by Malcolm Hurrell. The cast: Richard: Ralph Lawson, Jenny: Mary Dreyer, Roger: David Hughes, Jack: Keith Grenville, Mrs Pimosz: Diane Wilson, Beryl: Bo Petersen, Bill: André Roothman, Louise: Pauline O'Kelly, Gilbert: Wayne Bowman.
