I'm Herbert is a one-act play by Robert Anderson (1917-2009)[1].

Sometimes found as I am Herbert.

The original text

Part of You Know I Can't Hear You When the Water's Running, a collection of four one-act comedies, it was first performed at the Ambassador Theatre, New York in March 1967, directed by Alan Schneider.

Translated into Afrikaans translation by James Blanckenberg with the title Ek is Herman.

Performance history in South Africa

1978: Directed in the original English by Mavis Taylor with Drama students in the Little Theatre at the University of Cape Town.

1987: Produced in Afrikaans as Ek is Herman as part of a double bill with Die Kaalkop Prima Donna at the UCT Arena Theatre by the University of Cape Town Drama Department, opening 28 August. Directed James Blanckenberg, with Nigel Maister and Lisa Hall. Stage managers Cheryl Braaf, Irit Knobel and Vanessa Levenstein, lighting design by Kevin Yates.
