September 5, 1947: The Eastern Province and Border National Play Festival was held in East London at the ???. The adjudicators were Mme. Tamara Samsonov and Alan Warner. The winning play was East London Technical College's production of Borrowed Likeness, produced by Mary Howe. Starring George Howe, Peggy Beamish and Tods Hatchard.
Rhodes University College entered Saint Joan" with Penelope Mills as "Saint Joan".
