Dionysos Festival

Dionysos Festival was a festival held at Kirstenbosch Gardens in the early 2000s, the brainchild of Roy Sargeant.

2002: Several performances, including two early-morning performances were given of The Bacchae by Euripides. The festival included a lecture series on ancient Greece with specific reference to the play by members of the University of Cape Town Classical Languages Department, wine-tastings presented by 17 South African wineries, guided garden walks concentrating on flowers, shrubs and trees with names derived from Ancient Greek.

2003: Sophocles' Oedipus the Tyrant.

December 2004-January 2005: Aristophanes' The Birds.
