Dig the Beat! is a poetry programme devised by Darryl Nel.

The programme is a celebration of rhythm and blues through the ages, featuring poems by Shakespeare, e.e.cummings, Roald Dahl, Auden, Owen, Serote, Sepal, Mtshali).

Performance history in South Africa

2001: Presented on tour to schools in and around Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, and at the Western Cape Schools Festival at Artscape (March) and the Eastern Cape Schools Festival at the Port Elizabeth Opera House (May). Directed by Darryl Nel with Nel, Gareth Hewitt Williams, Vanessa Grebe and Chireen Ferreira (replacing Grebe on tour).
