Die Verkeerde Trein ("The wrong train") is a short Afrikaans playtext, a translation and adaptation by an anonymous translator of an unnamed English play.

The original text

A brief comic skit about a man trying to buy a train ticket and his struggles with the ticket salesman-cum-stationmaster.

According to the manuscript of the translation, found in 2022, the original English text (not named), is one of the plays in in Cameo Plays (Book 2), edited by George H. Holroyd and published by E. J. Arnold & Son Ltd. in 1943.

Translations and adaptations

The English work has been localised in the Western Cape region and translated into Afrikaans as Die Verkeerde Trein by an unnamed author, probably for performance by the Montagu Drama Club.

1950s?: Probably for performed by the Montagu Drama Club.
