Die Ouderling (“The Church Elder” - Afrikaans) is a play by H.A. Fagan. A play in three acts about the struggle between a young enlightened minister and an older, conservative member of the congregation. One of Fagan’s best works. First performed in *** and published in 1934 (in the collection Die Ouderling en ander toneelstukke). Produced by the Krugersdorp Municipal Dramatic and Operatic Society in 1938 as part of the society's Voortrekker Festival programme . Full-length. Cast: mixed. Published in Die Ouderling en ander Toneelstukke.

Fagan was awarded the Hertzog Prize for Drama in 1935 for Die Ouderling en ander toneelstukke which include Die Ouderling, Ousus, Ruwe Erts and Rooibruin Blare.
