Diane Vlotman (19**-). Actress.

Also known as Diane Rossi

Biography

She studied B.Dram degree at Stellenbosch in the 1970s, followed by a BA Hons (1977) and an MA at University of Natal (1985) in Durban. Her MA thesis was on Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello.

She taught Theatre Studies as a leave replacement at University of Durban Westville (UDW) and at the University of Natal Durban (UND) for several years and was a founding member of the Loft Theatre Company with Nicholas Ellenbogen.

From 1989 to 1999 she and her husband Mike Rossi lived in Boston, USA, moving back to Cape Town in 2000. Mike began teaching at the University of Cape Town, retiring as Emeritus Professor at the end of 2021. They then moved to Italy in 2022 as they have dual nationality.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As an actress she had roles in Snow White and the Special Branch(Pieter-Dirk Uys, 1974). For UTS she performed as "Niggie/Jong Prostituut" in Die Goeie Mens van Sezuan and in Die Goue Kring in 1976.

She directed En Dit Was Môre, National Arts Festival Fringe, 1985.
