Deep in the Coca-lala

This piece, conceptualised by Johnny Barbuzano and Tumisho Masha, is a journey through Hillbrow as seen by truck drivers delivering Coca-Cola. It features the dirty streets, the strip clubs, Fontana's take-away food and the life of four characters who struggle to rise above their surroundings.

Performance history in South Africa

Barbuzano was selected to direct this play during the Barney Simon Young Directors and Playwrights Festival, 1998. The cast were Sibushi Mnguni, Thokozani Nkhosi, Tumisho Masha, Lebohang Elephant and Cuba Ikaneng. Choreography by Rosie Motene.
