De Moord van Dingaan aan Pieter Retief ("The murder by Dingane of Pieter Retief") is tragedy in 4 acts by H.W. Teengs (fl 1860-1890).

The original text

Written in Dutch by Teengs for performance by the Rederijkerskamer Aurora II in 1869, the play is based on a critically influential historical event, i.e. the killing of the Voortrekker leader, Piet (Pieter) Retief (1780-1838)[1], and the delegation he was leading in 1838, after having just signed a treaty with the Zulu king Dingane (fl.1795-1840)[2] at Ungungundlovu in Natal[3].
