South African productions
First formal production of a play in Afrikaans. A translation of the Dutch play. Directed by "Oom Lokomotief" (“Uncle Locomotive”- D.F du Toit, editor of Di Patriot), and performed in a private house at Daljosafat near Paarl and at Montagu shortly after 1860. An unidentified companion piece, with the characters "Mandeville" and "Plof" was also performed.
