Training
Trained in the dramatic arts at Marlborough College in Liverpool and Birmingham Theatre School, David's early work came mostly in theatre and radio plays.
Career
He has worked as a professional freelancer since 1967 in film, theatre and television.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
David has performed in numerous theatrical productions including Romeo and Juliet 1972, My Foot My Tutor (CAPAB, Mother Courage and her Children (CAPAB 1973), Miss Julie (CAPAB 1973), Troilus and Cressida (as Patroclus, PACT 1974), Norman, Is That You? (1975), Hamlet (PACT 1978), P.S. Your Cat is Dead! (1978), The Merry Widow (PACT 1979).
He acted as the narrator in different productions of The Rocky Horror Show in the 2000s and played Fagin in a National Children's Theatre production of A Pocket Oliver Twist in 2007.
He starred in the film version of Heel Against the Head released in 1999.
In August 2008 he co-directed the one-man show Jake's Revolution presented at the Catalina Theatre with Dhaveshan Govender.

He was nominated for an Artes Award for his role in Final Edition (television). 1991.
