Dave Pollecutt (1942-2001). Professional musician, composer, arranger, musical director and music producer.

Also known as David Pollecutt and Dave Pollicutt.

Biography

Born David Pollecutt March 27, 1942 in Greytown, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

He began as a member of the 1960s South African band Dickie Loader and The Blue Jeans and went on to an illustrious career as composer and musical director for stage, TV and film. He was also a writer of award-winning advertising jingles. Worked in the music and performance business for over 40 years before his unexpected passing on 13 October 2001 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Married to Laura, and the couple had two daughters (Larissa and Samantha) and two sons Michael and Brendan Pollecutt.

Contribution to South African theatre, film,media and performance

He was composer/musical director for a few musicals, such as African Footprint and Sex, Tango and Everything Else (2001).

Film and TV soundtracks include the original scores of Groetnis vir die Eerste Minister (1973), Boland! (1974), Land Apart (1974), Olie Kolonie (1975), Claws (1982), The Gordimer Stories (1982), Praise (1982), Good Climate, Friendly Inhabitants (1982), An Entirely New Concept in Packaging (1983), Shaka Zulu (1986), Moordspeletjies (1988), It's Murphy's Fault (1988), The Sea Tiger (1988), Night of the Cyclone (1989), The Game (1989-1990), That Englishwoman: An Account of the Life of Emily Hobhouse (1990), Thieves of Fortune (1990), Night of the Cyclone (1990), Die Elefantenbrau (1993).
