The comédie-vaudeville, also known as "comédie en vaudeville" was a form of entertainment popular in the Cape in the first half of the 19th century, often in English or Dutch versions.
A theatrical entertainment begun in Paris in the late seventeenth century, one in which the comedy of the play was enhanced with popular vaudeville songs.
