Christopher Joynt is an artist and art teacher, actor, director, storyteller and playwright.

Also known as Chris Joynt.

Biography

After 30 years of being an art teacher, he began writing stories for his children and grandchildren. Among these were a series of "Stoepstories" ("stoop/porch tales"), as well as a novel, about the fictional "Oom Giel" ("Uncle Giel") and "Neef" ("cousin").

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As a writer:

Initiallly he largely wrote in English, but then discovered the Afrikaans radio dramas of RSG after his retirement, and began to write for them.

Among the radio dramas have been Kolskoot Visagie (2018),

As an actor:

Joynt appeared in Flibberty and the Penguin, Night of January 16th and Bobaas van die Boendoe, all at the Guild Theatre.

As a director:

Joynt directed three of Darryl Nel's children's musicals: Hansel and Gretel (1987), Sleeping Beauty (1989) and The Emperor's New Clothes (1991).
