CAPAB Music
CAPAB Music was formed in Cape Town as one of the principal arts segments of the Cape Performing Arts Board (CAPAB).
History
Artistic Director of CAPAB Music included: Douglas Reid (?-1972), Charles Oxtoby (acting AD in 1972) and Winston P Stelling (1972-1974). The department was then restructured with Tom Veldhuis as Music Manager (1975-?) and Gunter Pulvermacher as Artistic Advisor.
CAPAB Music activities in the 1960s included staging lunch-time concerts, and arranging tours by the Vienna Boys' Choir and visiting musicians (including British concert pianist John Clegg, French organist Marie Claire-Alain).
In the 1970s, Veldhuis introduced a series of eleven lecture-demonstrations by South African composers.
The CAPAB Music department ceased operations on 31 March 1997.
