The Black Flag, or Escaped from Portland is a romantic drama by Henry Pettitt (1848–1893)[1].

Also referred to at times as Black Flag, or Escaped from Portland or simply as The Black Flag.

First performed at the Grecian Theatre, London, on 9 August, 1879.

1885: Performed as The Black Flag in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, produced by Mr H.C. Sidney and partner Mr H.J. Fiedler during the course of the year. in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, while under the management of H.C. Sidney and H.J. Fiedler.
