History
Big Concerts, founded in 1989 by Attie Van Wyk has produced more than 2 000 shows with over 300 international artists. Big Concerts conducts business in the promotion of live entertainment events, merchandising, sponsorships, corporate- and private events, concessions and hospitality. The company is the only African promoter to feature on the Pollstar list of Top 100 promoters, and has on numerous occasions been voted the top live entertainment company in South Africa.
Amongst many past accomplishments, Big Concerts staged the first international concert held in celebration of the lifting of the cultural boycott of South Africa in 1992 featuring Paul Simon. Since then, Big Concerts has been involved in almost every significant international live event promoted in South Africa during the last two decades and has promoted numerous major international artists in arenas and stadiums, including U2, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Coldplay, Robbie Williams, Beyonce, Usher, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Jay Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Luther Vandross, Metallica, Neil Diamond, Kanye West, The Eagles, Foo Fighters, John Legend, Elton John, Lionel Richie, Billy Joel, Rihanna, Whitney Houston, Bon Jovi, One Direction, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys as well as major international theatre productions such as Mamma Mia!, Cirque du Soleil, Lord of The Dance and Riverdance, and various other global live entertainment events including World Wrestling Entertainment, the Indian Premier League and Nitro Circus Live.
