Arthur Mbambo (1942?-2020) was a South African film and TV actor, pastor and author.


Biography

Born Bhekizazi Arthur Mbambo, he was not only an actor, but also a pastor and author. Among his religious publications are The Naked Truth: Your Discretion (Partridge Africa, 2015) and the Zulu novel Izinkinga zika Mdletshe (self-published, 2017).

Mbambo died in a Johannesburg hospital in August, 2020, after a long illness.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Arthur started his career in 1982 with no formal training and appeared in numerous TV shows and feature films - most commonly playing priests and policemen. In an interview in 2017 he asserted that he had appeared in more than 35 films and TV plays and series.

His TV roles including "Frank Tshabalala" in Tshisa, "Mnyamane Buthelezi" in Muvhango and roles in Mzansi, Soul Buddyz and other productions. General Khotso

Films include Quiet Thunder (Video, 1988), Wild Zone (1989), The Schoolmaster (1990) and Max and Mona (2004).
