Bheki Mqadi is an actor.

Biography

Born in Clermont Township near Pinetown, Natal, he started his education in 1966, finishing high school in 1980. He then worked for the Consolidated Frama Cotton Corporation as a machine operator, during this time also acting in various amateur productions.

Having lost his job as result of his participation in a wage strike, he met Mbongeni Ngema, and joined Committed Artists in 1984.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

1983-1984: He became a member of Committed Artists and helped develop and acted in Asinamali by Mbongeni Ngema. He went on to work for many companies, notably Committed Artists and The Playhouse Company, as well as being actively involved in industrial theatre, edutainment and community theatre.

For Committed Artists he also appeared in productions of Township Fever, Magic at 4am and Mama.

In 1999/2000 he toured with Ngema's The Zulu, which premiered by the Playhouse Company at the Natal Playhouse, then moved on to the Market Theatre in Johannesburg and then touring Europe.

His other work for the Playhouse Company in Durban as actor and director, with appearances in shows like For Your Ears Only (as "Bra Doc", 2015), . As a director he did The Playhouse Company's Women (showcased at the South African Women's Arts Festival in 1996).

As film actor he appeared in the film version of Sarafina (playing "Moses", 1992). Also credited by IMDb for appearances in the anthology drama series' Great Performances (1971) and Screenplay (1986)[1]

On radio he has appeared in shows like the radio studio soap opera For Your Ears Only
