Annelie Botes (1957-) is a novelist.

Biography

Born Annelie Basson on a farm near the village of Uniondale (Cape Province), she holds a teaching degree in music (piano) from the University of South Africa (1986).

She is the author of fifty short stories and novels published in various magazines (such as Huisgenoot, Sarie and Rooi Rose) and used to write a regular column in Volksblad and Die Burger.

Her novel Raaiselkind (published in Afrikaans by Tafelberg in 2001, then translated into English as Riddle Child and published by Penguin in 2004), was adapted for the stage in Afrikaans by Saartjie Botha and produced in 2003 under the direction of Marthinus Basson.
