André Rossouw (1935-2017) Teacher, actor on stage and screen

Biography

Born on 9 February, 1935 and died in October 2017 at the age of 82.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

His first stage appearance was in August 1964 in Vergelegen. Other stage productions include Richard III (a production in Afrikaans, 1968-1969), Cyrano de Bergerac (1969), 'n Wingerdstok sal Rank (1971), Bart Nel (1972), Die Nag van Legio (as “Dogoman” 1976), Kanna hy kô Hystoe (1974), Die Plaasvervangers (1978), Vat hom, Flaffie! (as “Hups” 1990), Die Haasvanger (1991).

He had a role in Mooi Maria (radio play broadcast in January 1996).

He appeared in the stage production of Fiela se Kind in 1986, as well as in the film version in 1988.

Films include Paljas, Kaalgat Tussen die Daisies (1997); Anderkant die Stilte (2012). Television series inlude Manakwalanders.
