Administrator's Cup Competition

Largest one-act play festivals in South Africa, established in 1982, for which secondary schools in the erstwhile Transvaal were invited to enter by the Transvaal Education Department. By the late 1980s the competition, which was divided into an English and an Afrikaans section, regularly attracted more than two-hundred entries, mostly of a high quality. After eight regional finals and a semi-final round, the finals were held at the Kleinteater in Pretoria. ** (See Gosher, 1988) [JH]
