Biography
Trained, performed, choreographed and taught extensively in classical ballet and contemporary dance both locally and abroad.
In this field she was consecutively Principal of the Dance Department at the Performing Arts Workshop and Artistic Director of the Dance Theatre Company (1984-1987), and founder and director of the Free Flight Dance Company (1987-) in Johannesburg. Later moved to Cape Town with an offshoot of Freeflight, working with Cape Town City Ballet, Dance for All, Jikeleza and various other dance communities and projects and has had continuous involvement in corporate productions, and with entities such as the Cape Town Opera and the Zip Zap Circus.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Her involvement as choreographer for theatre productions includes Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Leader of the Pack, King Afrika, Ipi 'n tombi, Grease, Rage in a Cage, Kismet, Little Shop of Horrors, Sex, Tango and Everything Else, Blood Wedding (2005), Soweto Story (Deon Opperman, 2007, with Siphiwe 'Supa' Zungu). Has also done various compilation musicals, pantomimes with directors such as Janice Honeyman, Ian von Memerty and much work with Black musical groups and jazz exponents.
